From Creating Obesity to Eliminating Obesity
The searing pain that comes from the moment of realization that we created this problem - obesity, that may be bringing so many other problems to our lives; diabetes, high blood pressure, organ problems, circulation problems…many, many conditions that are DIRECTLY related to obesity and weight issues, WE CREATED. One bite at a time, one pizza, one gallon of ice cream, one bucket of fried chicken, we did this to ourselves.
Pain, being what it is, hurts so much, that to numb ourselves from the moment of truth, we eat more…so much that we try to obliterate the pain…in the morning I will start that new diet, tomorrow I will start working out…I will change this - after I feel better.
The heartbreaking reality is, that day, that moment when we are “ready” to change never comes…there is always another bad day at the office, the kids act up, we get bad news from the doctor or a friend…there are always reasons NOT to be different than what we are. And suddenly we find that we are 50 pounds heavier the next visit to the doctor and she is telling us it is now or never.
Maybe this is your story? Maybe it is the story of someone you love…if you have read this far, it is familiar to you. So HOW do we change it? How CAN we change it? After all…every overweight person in the world will tell you that they would change it, if they could.
Eliminating Obesity is possible - for everyone. It is easy? Of course not…if it was, we wouldn’t be obese to begin with. But it is possible and now there are more resources available to help us than ever before. Every solution involves a few key similarities: We have to learn to eat differently and move differently. Even surgery, which gives 250,000 people a year a chance, requires the same things…changing in eating and moving. The long-term success rate of surgery is suffering because many people still over consume. Even after initial weight losses of 80+ pounds, they start to gain it back because of their eating habits.
So…if the ending the obesity in our lives boils down to two things…eating less and moving more, why don’t more of us do it? BECAUSE IT IS HARD…it is hard to look at ourselves and know that we want to lose 150 pounds of fat, that we have to create a deficit of some 525000 calories to lose that much weight. It seems utterly impossible and so, we eat to numb ourselves the reality of our lives. Too much pain to lose weight…it is easier to just be obese and uncomfortable and unhappy.
But what if we could change, slowly, so slowly that we could barely see the changes until they added up to 1 pound, 10 pounds, 100 pounds? What if we could learn to move in such small increments that it would be inconceivable that one day we would be walking 5 miles a day? What if TODAY, all I needed to do is cut out 1-2 BITES of food and walk just 100 steps more today than I did yesterday? What would the possibilities be if changing our lives…our unhappy, unhealthy lives, one bite and one step at a time?
It is being done…exactly that way. Look around you…read the magazines, watch the tv shows, surf the net…people are making those changes, millions without surgery, are using the power of ones to change their lives…one bite, one step, one day at a time.
Obesity and diabetes is a growing problems nowadays. It is caused by todays lifestyle which does not involve lots amount of exercise. Most people are just happy sitting in their office chair and they do not even want to sweat.
